Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires
With presentations by Ambassador Darryl John Dunn, Ricardo López Göttig, Marcos Novaro, Carlos Gervasoni, Tristán Rodríguez Loredo and Horacio Reyser, CADAL launched the research report "Democracy, Markets and Transparency 2009" and it was also analyzed the political, economic and business expectations in face of the begining of ordinary sessions of the Federal Congress.

The state of democracy in Latin America
With guest speakers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, CADAL organized at the Auditorium Héctor Dieguez at Universidad Di Tella, the seminar "The State of Democracy in Latin America". The subjects analyzed where "Institutional quality, democratic governance and freedom of expression facing populism” and “Cuba and the matter of democracy in the 21st century".

President Mujica: Uruguay from an international perspective
With the participation of the journalists Nelson Fernández and Claudio Paolillo as speakers, CADAL organized at boutique Hotel AWA the first Foro Latinoamericano Punta del Este with the objective of analyzing “Mujica as president: Uruguay from an international perspective: The new eastern government: politics and economics 2010-2015".

Conference on the International Day of Human Rights
In order to celebrate the International Day of Human Rights, CADAL organized at the graduates college of Universidad de Belgrano in downtown Buenos Aires, a conference where Andrés Cañizalez and Ricardo Rojas analyzed the situation in Cuba and Venezuela, with comments in charge of Gabriel Palumbo and Gabriel Salvia.

A new edition of Foro Latinoamericano Montevideo took place at Torre García Room at Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel. In this opportunity, journalists Tomás Linn and Nelson Fernández analyzed “The new government of Uruguay: politics and economics for 2010-2015".

Foro Latino Global 2009
Framed within the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, CADAL organized at Regal Pacific Hotel Buenos Aires, the 2009 edition of Foro Latino Global. The event was inaugurated by Bogdan Borusewicz, President of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, former disident and member of Solidarity, and then it included the panels: “Democratic governance, institutional quality and economic performance in Central and Eastern Europe, 1989-2009” and “Latin America 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall”.

The policy of cohesion of European Union as a model for other international organizations and third countries
CADAL organized at its office a new meeting of Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires, with a presentation by Polish economist Ida Musialkowska on the model and policy principles as a point of reference for third countries and international organizations (with a focus on the situation of MERCOSUR). Musialkowska has a Ph.D. in Economics at Poznań University of Economics from Poland.

Energy policy, business and competitivity in Latin America
At Hotel Regal Pacific a new meeting of Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires took place. Organized by CADAL in this opportunity the speaker was Raúl Ferro who referred to ''Energy policy, business and competitivity in Latin America''. During his presentation, Ferro referred to the dream of integration of the 90, the models of opening and nationalism in the region with its respective results and tendencies for the sector. Raúl Ferro is Director of Contents Development at Business News Americas and member of CADAL's Advisory Council.

Free speech in Latin America
Three prestigious experts in press freedom offered a conference at CADAL's office in Buenos Aires, where the following reports were launched “Indicadores de Periodismo y Democracia en América Latina: Primer Semestre 2009” (Local Level Journalism and Democracy Indicators in Latin America: First Semester 2009) and “Con crónicas sobre Cuba, los blogueros ofrecen nueva esperanza” (With chronicles on Cuba, bloggers offer a new hope), in charge of Fernando J. Ruiz and Carlos Lauría, respectively. Besides, Andrés Cañizález referred to the situation of freedom of expression in Venezuela.

The new agenda of State reform: the case of Chile
Within the area of Democratic Governance, Economics and Institutions, CADAL organized at Regal Pacific Hotel Buenos Aires, the conference "The new agenda of State reform: the cse of Chile" in charge of Jorge Marshall Rivera, Director of Instituto de Políticas Públicas Expansiva and former Minister of Economy of Chile. The activity was intended to a reduced group of participants mainly politicians, consultants and analysts.

Uruguayan financial system in face of a change in government
Economist Julio de Brun was the guest speaker of this new edition of Foro Latinoamericano Montevideo, organized at Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel. The Executive Director of Asociación de Bancos Privados del Uruguay and former Chairman of the Central Bank, gave a presentation on ''Uruguayan financial system in face of a change in government''.

Concertacion's Chile and Lula's Brazil
With the participation of Patricio Navia and Vicente Palermo, a new edition of Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires took place at Hotel Regal Pacific. The event began with a presentation by Navia on ''Chile, concertationist republic'' and ended with a lecture by Palermo entitled ''Thinking Brazil under the light of Lula experience''.

CADAL organized at its office in Buenos Aires the presentation of the Document “A 15 años del ‘Maleconazo’: Descontento social y falta de apertura en Cuba”, with the presence of the authors, Gabriel Salvia and Hernán Alberro, and the comments in charge of Ibis García Alonso and Fernando Ruiz.

Latin American foreign policy in the current world (dis)order
At Cámara Nacional de Comercio y Servicios del Uruguay, CADAL organized the presentation of the 20th edition of Perspectiva magazine, with the participation of Senator Sergio Abreu and diplomat Elbio Rosselli. Both speakers referred to the subject of the dosier of this issue of Perspectiva on "Latin American foreign policy in the current world (dis)order" where the challenges and alternatives of the foreign policy in our region is analyzed. Among the authors of the dossier are: Stephen Johnson, Rosendo Fraga, Fernando Dworak, Michael Shifter, María Teresa Romero, Angel Soto and Nelson Fernández, this last, CADAL's offier in Uruguay.

After the primaries, towards October: electoral supply and demand in Uruguay
At Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel took place the new edition of Foro Latinoamericano Montevideo, in this case with a presentation by sociologist Ignacio Zuasnábar, Public Opinion Director of EQUIPOS MORI, who analyzed the recent internal elections in Uruguay. The Forum began with the launch of a survey by Nelson Fernández on "Ciudad Vieja's pulse: elections and financial decisions".

Uruguay facing a historical election
A new meeting of Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires took place at the Czech Embassy with a presentation by Nelson Fernández on the political and economic perspectives of Uruguay in face of the open primaries that take place on June 28 in Uruguay and that will give as a result the presidential candidates that will run on October 25.
