Alternative event at the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles

The discussion 'Peaceful demonstrations in Latin America: Reflections on Cuba one year after 11J' is a space that will take place within the framework of the IX Summit of the Americas to analyze the human rights situation on the island after the July 2021 protests that left more than 700 people detained. This event, which is organized by the International Institute on Race, Equality and Human Rights (Race and Equality), and the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL), will be in person and virtual, and will bring together experts who have closely followed what is happening in Cuba, Cuban activists, and human rights defenders.
