Analysis of Kirchner’s decade

With the participation of the political analyst Marcos Novaro a new Catalinas Forum meeting took place to analyze the ten years of Kirchner government in Argentina. During his presentation, Novaro addressed the following issues: The balance of the first kirchnerism: developmentalism and populism, President and party, The conquest of autonomy and polarization; opportunism and ideology in the passage to the upper phase: the crisis of the farms, The failure of the alternatives and the mythical return of the Kirchner: the nationalization of politics and partisanship of the state; outlook: limits and possibilities of a populist regime in comparative perspective.

Marcos Novaro has a degree in sociology and a doctorate in philosophy from Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). He is Director of Policy History Program of the Instituto de Investigación Gino Germani, UBA. He is director of the Oral History Archive at the university and of Centro de Investigación Política (CIPOL). He is professor of the course "Leadership, representation and public opinion", since August 2000, and regular associate of the subject "Contemporary Political Theory", since August 1999, in the School of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences, UBA. He has published numerous articles in national and international journals. Among his most recent books include: Vamos por Todo: Las 10 decisiones más polémicas del modelo (Editorial Sudamericana, 2013, in collaboration with Edward Levi Yeyati), Historia Argentina 1955/2010 (Editorial Siglo XXI, 2010), Historia de la Argentina contemporánea (Editorial Edhasa, Buenos Aires, 2006).

The Catalinas Forum was held at the headquarters of the Swiss Argentine Chamber of Commerce, and was attended by CADAL subscribers and members, representatives of foreign diplomatic corps and youth who received Scholarship 2013 José Ignacio García Hamilton.
