On March 19, jurist Ricardo Manuel Rojas gave a lecture on "The Cuban legal system" at CADAL's office in Buenos Aires, before an audience of diplomats, journalists, legislators consultants, students and professionals. This activity was organized for the 4º anniversary of the breakdown of democratic opposition in Cuba, when 75 dissidents were sent to prison after summary trials. For this reason, the purpose of the meeting was to show in judicial terms the legal characteristics of the Cuban regime and analyze the content of the sentences. Ricardo Manuel Rojas is author of the book "Los derechos fundamentales y el orden jurídico e institucional de Cuba", winner of "2006 Antony Fisher Award"; and of another two books related to philosophical aspects of law. He was Secretary of the Federal Supreme Court of Justice between 1986 and 1993, and since then he has served as a criminal judge in the city of Buenos Aires. Currently he is Vice-Chairman and Executive Director of Friedrich A. von Hayek Foundation, in Buenos Aires.
