Democracy for everyone

Gabriel Salvia, CADAL’s General Director, took part in the seventh Assembly of the Global Fight for Democracy, which took place on October 14th-17th in Lima, Peru. Over 50 talks were given on the occasion, two of which Salvia took an active part in: “Improving the Political Impact of Democratic Research” and “Democratic Education: Moving towards a Culture of Tolerance”.

Over 400 participants from a total of 100 different countries attended the seventh Assembly of the “Global Fight for Democracy”, which took place on October 14th-17th in Lima, Peru. The event’s motto: “Democracy for everyone: Moving towards greater Political, Economic and Social Integration”. Among its speakers was Tawakkol Karman, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner and journalist from Yemen.

Over 50 talks were given on the occasion, two of which Gabriel Salvia, General Director of the Centre for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL), took an active part in: “Improving the Political Impact of Democratic Research” and “Democratic Education: Moving towards a Culture of Tolerance”, on Monday 15th and on Tuesday 17th respectively. The former was organised by the “Network of Democracy Research Institutes” (NDRI) and its other speakers were Marc Plattner, Christopher Walker and Melissa Aten from the International Forum for Democratic Studies (USA); Martin Butora, Institute for Public Affairs (Slovakia) and Tanya Hamada, INCITEgov (Philippines).
