Global ranking presented at Punta del Este

For second year in a row, CADAL and boutique hotel AWA organized the Foro Latinoamericano Punta del Este, achieving a great interest from the audience on vacations at the main touristic point of Uruguay. On this occasion, journalist Danilo Arbilla, economist Pablo Montaldo, jurist Marcelo Loprete and CADAL's director Gabriel Salvia, lectured on the research report ''Democracy, Market and Transparency 2010''.

For second year in a row, CADAL and boutique hotel AWA organized the Foro Latinoamericano Punta del Este, achieving a great interest from the audience on vacations at the main touristic point of Uruguay. On this occasion, journalist Danilo Arbilla, economist Pablo Montaldo, jurist Marcelo Loprete and CADAL's director Gabriel Salvia, lectured on the research report ''Democracy, Market and Transparency 2010''.

The opening of the event was in charge of Gabriel Salvia, General Director of CADAL and co-editor of the report with Hernán Alberro. Salvia gave a brief introduction on the objectives of the report that is published since 2006, referred to the contents of the current edition and analyzed the uneven performance of South American countries in the ranking, highlighting the places occupied by Chile and Uruguay on the global and regional level.

Then, Marcelo Loprete, expert on economic anaysis of law and member of CADAL Advisory Council, referred to the methodology of the report, underlined its importance for decision making of long term investments and concluded with an analysis of the Argentine performance in the ranking.

On his turn, Pablo Montaldo, economist, businessmen and recently designated head of Stock Exchange Market of Uruguay and member of CADAL's Advisory Council, analized the economic situation of Uruguay and the challenges it has to improve in the ranking.

The closure of the presentations was in charge of Danilo Arbilla, journalist, founder of the influential weekly Búsqueda and former president of Inter-American Press Association (IAPA). Arbilla referred to the situation of press freedom in various countries included in the ranking and established his doubts on the data offered by this kind of indicators, highlighting the analysis on the Chinese model included in the publication.

Among the hundred participants there were businessmen, journalists, social leaders, public officers and politicians, like the case of Uruguaian senator Carlos Baráibar, member of Frente Amplio.

The participants to the second edition of Foro Latinoamericano Punta del Este received a copy of the report "Democracy, Market and Transparency 2010" and the four quarterly reports of 2010 of the Programa of Regional Political and Economic Analysis of CADAL.

This event was sponsored by El País newspaper, with an important diffusion on TV shows of Punta del Este - where Marcelo Loprete was interviewed - there was an interest of Radio Sarandí with a long interview to CADAL's General Director and the coverage of Galería magazine that is distributed with the weekly Búsqueda.
