International Democratic Solidarity Day

Coinciding with the eighth anniversary of Václav Havel's death, CADAL organized a conference where audiovisuals of campaigns for freedom of movement in Cuba were shown; testimonies of women activists from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras and Cuba; and the documentary ''Václav Havel: a life in freedom'', by Andrea Sedláčková. Previous presentations were given by Sybil Rhodes, Diana Arévalo, Elisa Trotta Gamus and Ricardo López Göttig.

Václav Havel Institute organized the last event of the year of CADAL in homage to the political and intellectual referent that inspires the activities of international democratic solidarity of the organization based in Buenos Aires.

The event started with the screening of two videos, one produced by ADN Cuba website, entitled "Regulated", and the other "The migratory blockade to political opponents in Cuba", produced by CADAL.

The videos on the restrictions to freedom of movement in Cuba were presented by Sybil Rhodes and Diana Arévalo, Chairman and Project Coordinator of CADAL, respectively.

Then, testimonies of women activists from Venezuela (Rafaela Requesens), Nicaragua (Edipcia Dubón), Honduras (Vanessa Siliezar) and Cuba (Iris Ruiz) were screened.

H.E. Elisa Trotta Gamus, Ambassador of the President of the National Assembly and the President in charge of Venezuela, made the presentation of the women activists.

On the other hand, Ricardo López Göttig, Director of Václav Havel Institute of CADAL, presented the documentary on Havel's life.
