Economy in a crisis situation

Journalist Néstor Scibona, economic columnist of La Nación newspaper, was the main speaker at the last meeting of Latin American Forum Buenos Aires that took place at Regal Pacific Hotel. The Forum started with the presentation of the research report 2008 ''Democracy, Market and Transparency'' and the appointment of Horacio Reyser as Director of CADAL's Business Council.

Journalist Néstor Scibona, economic columnist of La Nación newspaper, was the main speaker at the last meeting of Latin American Forum Buenos Aires that took place at Regal Pacific Hotel. During his presentation, Scibona referred to the following subjects: The international and local context, with the Argentine government's responses to face the crisis; Impacts on economy, including flight of capital; peso versus real, euro and dollar; positive interest rates; the price of soy; trade superavit; impact on real economy; the most and worst favored sectors; the lower labor demand; and perspectives 2008-2009.

The Forum began with a brief presentation by Gabriel Salvia, CADAL's Chairman, of the 2008 research report "Democracy, Market and Transparency".

During the meeting, Ing. Horacio Reyser was formally appointed Director of CADAL's Business Council.

At the end of the Forum a toast was offered to celebrate the end of the year and the award of a new international prize for CADAL: Alberto Marten Prize for Social Entrepreneurship, given by Atlas Economic Research Foundation. The participants of the event were mostly foreign diplomats and businessmen.
