The night won’t last forever

In the presence of Rosa María Payá, promoter of Cuba Decide, Oswaldo Payá’s (1952-2012) book ''La noche no será eterna: Peligros y esperanzas para Cuba'' (in English, “The night will not last forever, threats and hopes for Cuba”) was presented at CADAL's headquarters, with comments by Fernando Ruiz and Gabriel Salvia.

Published by Hypermedia, the book "La noche no será eterna: Peligros y esperanzas para Cuba" compiles so far unpublished texts by Oswaldo Payá (1952-2012), the promoter of the Varela Project, winner of the Sakharov Prize awarded by the European Parliament and five-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee.

La noche no será eterna

Rosa María Payá is the Executive Director of the Fundación para la Democracia Panamericana (“Foundation for Panamerican Democracy”) and a member of the Red Latinoamericana de Jóvenes por la Democracia (“Latin American Youth Network for Democracy”), which operates in 23 countries of the region. She works to promote international solidarity with Cuba, and to seek justice for the murder of her father Oswaldo Payá, winner of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize and a five-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee. Currently she coordinates the international campaign Cuba Decide, which calls for a referendum in order to hold free and pluralistic elections in Cuba for the first time in 67 years. She holds a degree in Physics from the University of Havana and graduated from Georgetown University in Washington DC in two programs: Global Competitive Leadership and Summer Institute on the Constitution.

La noche no será eterna

Fernando J. Ruiz holds a doctorate degree in Public Communications and is a university professor and one of CADAL’s Academic Advisors. He is the author of several books, including "Otra grieta en la pared: Informe y testimonios de la nueva prensa cubana" (CADAL/KAS, 2003).

La noche no será eterna
