Political Outlook in Argentina and Chile

“Kirchnerismo: Crisis or Consolidation?” was the title of the presentation given by Carlos Fara, a specialist in public opinion, electoral campaigns, communication strategies, and governement marketing. Next, Patricio Navia, Professor of political science at the Institute of Social Science Research at Universidad Diego Portales, offered an “X-Ray of Social Discontent in Chile.” This meeting of the Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires was sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Christian Association of Business Leaders (ACDE).

With the participation of the political analysts Carlos Fara and Patricio Navia as guest speakers, the Foro Latinoamericano Buenos Aires held a new meeting at the headquarters of CADAL. This event was sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Christian Association of Business Leaders (ACDE).

The Foro was introduced by Dr. Kristin Wesemann, a representative from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Argentina, and by Gabriel S. Salvia, Director of the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL).

"Kirchnerismo: Crisis or Consolidation?" was the title of the presentation given by Carlos Fara, a specialist in public opinion, electoral campaigns, communication strategies, and governement marketing. Fara has been honored with the 2010 Aristotle Award for Excellence, in recognition of the work he has done in the elections in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, where he formed the Dream Team of the year composed of the ten best political campaign consultants in the world. In addition, he has won the EIKON de Oro prize for the best campaign for goverment communication (2010) for his work in Mar del Plata (Argentina). He is the coauthor of the manual of marketing and political communication "Actions for Better Communication," edited by the Adenauer Foundation in Argentina. Furthermore, he is the president of the Latinamerican Association of Political Consultants, a member of the International Association of Political Consultants, and a member of CADAL's Advisory Council.

During his presentation, Patricio Navia offered an "X-Ray of Social Discontent in Chile." Navia is one of the most influential political analysts in Chile. He is an adjunct assistant professor at the Center for Latinamerican Studies at New York University and a Professor of political science at the Institute of Social Science Research at the Universidad Diego Portales. He is a columnist for the newspapers La Tercera (Chile) and the Buenos Aires Herald (Argentina). He is the author of, among other books, "The Big Avenues: Chile After Pinochet" (2004). In addition, he has published articles in Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Democracy, and Democratization and Social Science Quarterly. He has also contributed various chapters to books about the politics of Chile and Latin America. In Spanish, he has published articles in Estudios Públicos, Revista de Ciencia Política, Perspectivas, Política y Gobierno (Mexico), and Anuario FLACSO. Finally, he is a member of CADAL's Academic Council.
