Political perspectives and economic challenges of the new Argentine government

A new meeting of the Forum Catalinas was held at CADAL’s office, with Carlos Fara and Jorge Streb analyzing the major political and economic challenges that the government of Mauricio Macri is facing. The activity was held under the sponsorship of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and was attended by the ambassadors of Switzerland, H.E. Hanspeter Mock, and Norway, H.E. Joisten Leiro, and the ambassadors of Austria, H.E. Karin Proidl, and Denmark, H.E. Grete Sillasen.

The political consultant Carlos Fara analyzed: How did we get here? What is the mandate of society? How is the new president received? And finally he addressed questions and a prospective.

For his part, economist Jorge Streb referred to the democratic change and the reforms on the orientation of the economic policy; urgent challenges, including reducing the fiscal deficit to control inflation and default output; important challenges such as the reintegration of Argentina into the world trade and the elimination of informality in the labor market; and finally he referred to the importance of ideas and values.

Carlos Fara is specialist in Public Opinion, Election Campaign, Government Communication Strategies and Marketing. He was president of the Latin American Association of Political Consultants, is member of the International Association of Political Consultants and Director of Advisory Council of CADAL.

Jorge M. Streb is Director of Research and Professor of Economics and Political Science at the UCEMA and coeditor of the Journal of Applied Economics. He graduated in Economics (University of Buenos Aires) and has a Ph.D. Economics (C.U. Berkeley). He is Academic Director of CADAL.
